Yikes where'd that bill come from?

The New Plan

Remember how I did NoSpend November last year? Well this year I decided to try it in December. There are a couple of reasons for this shift. First of all I had a vacation planned already for November so I didn't want to skimp on it since vacations for me are so rare. The other reason is that while last November was difficult (primarily because of football season) it wasn't as big a stretch to pull off. Christmas is a big spending time and I found that instead of really saving on holiday spending, it could have been differed. So is it really no spend? Tough call.

So this time I figured I would get back into the blogging habit by No Change November showing you what happens in a typical month for me. I will do my best to be realistic about it and not restrict my spending out of shame since you're watching! The only noted difference is that I am not allowing Christmas presents to get stockpiled a head of time. A benefit of this activity is for me to see how well I can track my spending. In this age of digital payments I rarely look at bank accounts or credit card statements. Lets see how it goes!

Day 18: Horsey

Today was filled with lots of adventure. We had our breakfast complete with its idle banter. I suppose that this is something that people that typically choose a B&B enjoy. Packing up we drove to the hotel which let us check in early. It was right on the corner of downtown. There is a urban trail of some sort, so we walked around on that and followed stamped stones that took us around town. It was pretty neat but there wasn't a whole lot of information along the way aside from some interspersed signs. There is a website associated with the whole thing but we weren't able to get the Internet to work in the room before we left. For lunch we met up with Anna's friend Ben. It was pretty tasty though Anna didn't like her sandwich so she had chocolate cake which was on the house!

After doing a little more of the trail we hopped in the car and went to Antler Hill Villiage at the Biltmore. We got to see animals at the farm and I pet a horse for the first time (that I remember). We also walked through their vegetable gardens, saw a blacksmith do some work and talked to a woodworking guy. There was a lot of cool old tools and things like that to see but nothing worth buying. So that's good I suppose. On our way back to the hotel I remembered that there was brewhouse and movie theater up the road. We called to see if they still had tickets and once we got the thumbs up we drove up and checked it out. The place was really cool. $3 for the movie and food had fun names related to movies. I had a pizza and Anna tried the Nachos. It had a lot of jalapenos so we used my phone as a flashlight to help when she picked some off. Did I mention that popcorn was just $2? On the way home we stopped for cereal and gas. When we came home we were pretty wiped so we just watched part of a movie on Netflix and sacked out.
