Extreme NoSpend

Remember how I did NoSpend November last year? Well this year I decided to try it in December. There are a couple of reasons for this shift. First of all I had a vacation planned already for November so I didn't want to skimp on it since vacations for me are so rare. The other reason is that while last November was difficult (primarily because of football season) it wasn't as big a stretch to pull off. Christmas is a big spending time and I found that instead of really saving on holiday spending, it could have been differed. So is it really no spend? Tough call. So in that spirit I modified one rule from 09. No Christmas stockpiling.

No Change November sprung as a result of things being moved to December. I can now compare it to December as well as last November. I also get a chance to see if I am able to track spending when it is happening all the time. Lets see how it all goes! Also of note, I am changing how I list acquired and consumed. If I acquired a cookie and ate it all in the same day, it will only be listed in consumed. Acquired will only be present for things that make it to the end of the day. The exception to this is cashflow.

Day 27: Land Ho!

After noticing a draft the other day from the fire place Dad and I talked about winterizing the windows like I had back at my house. I tracked down a place that had the Seal 'N Peel removable weather stripping and he said he'd go get it. As we walked around downstairs we found that one window had settled so much that there was about a half inch gap between the side and bottom of the frame. There was even a spot where you could see right outside! No wonder it' so cold down there. Mom and I checked out the new Narnia movie and picked up lunch and groceries at Wegman's (with an extra trip to Shopper's because there was something that Wegman's didn't have *gasp*). When we arrived at the house Dad had picked up the weatherstripping caulk and I went around sealing things up and checking for more leaks. I think we got it pretty well but that window with the big gap is a little questionable. Either way it's far less drafty than it had been in the past. An old friend of mine (John) came over for dinner and it was really nice to catch up with him. We had a hard time remembering how long it's been but best guess is about 6 years or so. I'm hopeful that he'll be able to join me and Nick in Vancouver at the end of January. We'll just have to see how that goes. After dinner (with pie and cookies) I packed up a few things and headed out to visit Anna. Not a long trip at all and very easy to make when there's no traffic on the beltways!
