Extreme NoSpendRemember how I did NoSpend November last year? Well this year I decided to try it in December. There are a couple of reasons for this shift. First of all I had a vacation planned already for November so I didn't want to skimp on it since vacations for me are so rare. The other reason is that while last November was difficult (primarily because of football season) it wasn't as big a stretch to pull off. Christmas is a big spending time and I found that instead of really saving on holiday spending, it could have been differed. So is it really no spend? Tough call. So in that spirit I modified one rule from 09. No Christmas stockpiling.
No Change November sprung as a result of things being moved to December. I can now compare it to December as well as last November. I also get a chance to see if I am able to track spending when it is happening all the time. Lets see how it all goes! Also of note, I am changing how I list acquired and consumed. If I acquired a cookie and ate it all in the same day, it will only be listed in consumed. Acquired will only be present for things that make it to the end of the day. The exception to this is cashflow. [If you want to see them you can display the complete rules here]

Day 1: Snow!
Goodbye credit cards. See you in January.
We had a little snow today which was fun to see blowing around but man oh man was it cold. Yesterday was very rainy but up in the 50s at least. Today was freezing outside and in. Something was up with the air in the office and my fingers were having a tough time finding the will to type. I don't get cold often so that's really saying something. I was my usual forgetful self and missed a free breakfast. Aaron was nice and brought me back a scone and some fruit that I would have had if I had gone. I ate the fruit after my yogurt and hung onto the scone for later. Lunch was a home made turkey sandwich and some snacks at a lunch meeting we had for some faculty in the College of Science. Snacks provided at meetings are allowed by the way.
Dinner was cereal. I had lots of other things to eat but I really wanted Lucky Charms. I got hungry later though so I had a bratwurst which was getting a little edgy in the fridge. Watched some tv including a good but sadly lost VT basketball game. Overtime is always tough. Good effort though. I had plans to seal up windows too but basketball won. Most of the screens are shut up though and I found all the Peel n' Seal (actually has the n' in the title) caulk too. It's hard to find sometimes so I bought extra last year. Let's see.. what else did I do... Oh! Pretty critical thing is that I went to the Discover Card site and I had a little under $150 in cash back I can get. Unfortunately they only let you get withdraw in 50's but they do a direct deposit. Hopefully sometime Thursday or Friday I'll see $100 drop into my account.
