Liza (Est 7/24/1993)

Liza is pretty smart. She can do all sorts of cool things. Mostly she just naps. But if you know anyone who has talked to her on a regular basis they trust her judgment pretty well.

Here's what people have asked so far.

Liza,
Don't you think Pete should plan a trip to Minneapolis, maybe when the weather warms up a bit?

Oh man did you make Liza grumpy. Don't you know how lonely Liza gets when I am away? I usually have to do a great deal of sucking up when I get back. Unless of course I come back with treats. Liza wants to know what kind of treats you have.

Dear Liza,
I'm thinking of writing a book. So far, my outline includes 29 chapters of a story involving Atmospheric and Oceanic Science, South African sugar cane, Markov processes, a long-ass car chase scene, a proxy war between the US and France called the "French Islands Negotiation," and a Dutch-programmed computer virus that infects specific recombinatoric DNA computer chips, all in the year 2041.

My question is: how long is this going to take? Also, can I make a living this way?

Liza let out a little squeak but barely moved when I asked her about your book. If anything, she wrapped up tighter. I think if you want your book to do well, you should wrap it up as well. Perhaps you could do lots of little books, with pictures. I would think that something that you could take into the bath tub that squeaks would broaden your audience as well. Liza has little use for recombinatoric anything, but she always digs a good squeaky toy.

Dear Liza, I would like to know how to gain weight. I'm 23 yrs old and only weigh 83 pounds. I have tried everything and nothing works. can you please help me any good advice?

Liza had little interest in getting out of her box to respond to Jennifer's question. She's not usually concerned with weight. She has gone up and down in weight but never seems to be bothered by it. As long as she is healthy and active, she's all set, and her Vet agrees. Maybe you should double check with a doctor, and if they think you are healthy, that is all that really matters.

Liza, I don't think I've been hit on in a really long time. What clues should I be looking for if I think a guy might like me?

Liza was playing on the tarp in the kitchen (flooded basement situation) at the time I asked her this question. Her loud screaming meows seemed to indicate that she thinks you should speak up and see how he reacts. Just be careful, if he likes you, he might hook you up with a backscratch. If he LIKES you, you might get some petting out of it. Liza scored scratches.
On the ride back from Christmas with my family, I asked Liza three questions that Jeff had sent in (well as best as I remembered) The following are the wondrous responses I received.

Liza, why must I be allergic to your species? Can anything be done to cure this horrible affliction?

Liza was quite enamored with my Twizzlers as I asked her this question. She's not allowed to have any since they would make her sick. I gave her some cat treats and she was quite happy with them. Maybe you could take a tip from Liza, there are lots of good alternatives to keep you occupied even if you can't play with cats.

Liza, what can you do to get rid of the constant hopeless feeling that nothing will ever change and you will be stuck where you are forever?

-Jeff

Driving along 81 makes Liza rather fussy. Once she gets home though she's seems to forget all about the car and enjoys running, napping and eating in her own little piece of the world. The outside world isn't all that exciting to Liza, home is what's important. Keeping that in mind might make the hopeless feeling easier to deal with, maybe even go away.

Liza, why didn't i actually see you when I visited Pete's house? are you still alive, or are you like Morris the cat? Also, are you the first Liza, or a replacement, like Lassie

When Liza rides in the car, she often falls asleep in weird places. Here you can even see that she is falling asleep sitting up. No doubt she was just sleeping in some spot well hidden from you. Perhaps to protect you from her all to allergy inducing fuzziness!

Dear Liza,
I seem to be having trouble sleeping ... I mean I'm awake at 5 AM, for crying out loud!! Since you have developed napping into a fine art, please share some of your expertise with me.
Gratefully yours,
Carly Jane

I heard Liza wandering around downstairs so I asked her your question. You can't tell from the picture, but it's pitch black. Nonetheless, Liza was off to do something important and exciting to her. Maybe you can sleep better if you know that when you wake up you have something important and exciting things to do. Of course you have to pick what is important and exciting for yourself.
