Radford has quite a stereotype in this area.
In fact it's the kind of stereotype that gets most Virginia Tech
students traveling there. Simple put, it's a party town, or at
least seems to be. But if you think that's all there is to do
in Radford (here comes the page catch phrase) You've
got to be kidding me!!

O for pointing me at these tasty places--
Now everyone knows that I love Thai food.
I was very excited when a new place came around to get some good
cheap tasty Thai. Even though it is a bit of a ride to get there,
the Thai House has some great food all nestled into what used
to be a mexican restaurant. I am not really sure what it is going
to look like in there now as it is closed for renovations until
October 11th (2003).
It was very strange to eat anything but "burrito
deluxe" or "number F" in a setting like this. However,
I was quickly won over by the lunch special, which allows you
to get soup, a spring roll, and the entree of your choice (unless
you are Eileen who got the entree of the chef's choosing) for
about 7 bucks .Dinner changes to a larger menu with more options,
but no combo special.
Tricky thing about Thai house is that lunch
runs from 11am-3pm. Dinner goes from 5PM till close. And they
are closed on Monday. So keep that in mind. (I'll have to check
to see if those hours change when they reopen)
So what do you do when you are hungry on a
Monday? Go check out the Mongolian BBQ at King Buffet. A huge
cheap buffet where you can get soft serve ice cream!!!
I really dig this place. First buffet is all prepared food, soups,
french fries, complete dishes, chicken wings, everything. The
second one is where the Mongolians kick in their two cents.
Mongolian BBQ woks like this. You get yourself
a bowl and pick out the kind of meat you want. Then you pick from
noodles, or rice and dump that in. (I like the thai noodles myself)
Then you get to add in anything you want on the list of general
chinese food bits. Save room for the tiny corn they are at the
end of the line. When you are done you can add whatever kind of
sauce you want to it and hand it to the man with the cool giant
chopstick things (you'll see). In a minute or two, you have a
tasty dish.
The unfortunate part about this is, you have
to have some kind of idea as to what is going to go well with
what. i accidentally picked up some of that fake crab meat. Not
a fan usually, but I thought I would give it a try. Oh well, live
and learn (and then you get Luvs). Ok I have just managed to make
myself completely starved.. so time to get some Lucky Charms.
Enjoy!
