Christmas time is here - 12/10/05

Christmas for me is a big deal. Lots of decorating, cookies and presents. For some reason it wasn't quite the same this year. I guess it was the new house that threw off my rythym. Anyhow, my new house had a lot more places for lights and decorations. I pulled down a few cheap light sets from a big yard sale this summer. Plenty to cover the front fence. The eaves of the roof got covered with the fun icicley stuff that. I was very excited to find a cool automatic light switch sensor thing.

Inside I dropped a tree (not a huge one) that took up a lot of space on poker nights. I had some help decorating it. Jaime jumped in there and got it all set. I never did get around to getting the balls on it. I found a feather on the tree. Jul said oh must be why there is a nest in there. I thought he was joking. Apparently not.

I did get stockings up for the mantle. They were another good deal. So good a deal in fact, that I left the price tag on there. It was wierd to have an actual fireplace to hang them on. Last year Jul and I made a fireplace out of a big box from a TV, red wrapping paper, and masking tape. It looked quite nice I think. But not quite the same as the real thing. I never did fill these stockings. But I was sure to garnish each one with a candy cane at some point in January. And if you are wondering, yes, they are still up as of February 22.

Once the lights were up and all set Chris and I did some picture taking. Some of the tree, some of the house, and one that took us about 50 tries to do. Using a little LED flashlight, we wrote 502 in front of the house. Trick with long exposure to get the lights correct without blinding everyone.

In the end, I took the tree down. Chris had left me a note on his way out of town. Apparently he heard a hissing sound coming from inside the tree. Liza was weirded out by it as well. I didn't hear anything but I was very freaked out while I was taking it down by myself. The poor tree never did take in much water. By the time the lights came off, so did most of the needles.

Dragging it out of the house, left a carpet of green. As soon as I got it to the door I tossed it and stood back. I expected to see a snake come out of there or something. No dice though. I forgot to put the tree out for garbage pick up, so it's out on the lawn beside the shrubs our next bonfire!
